Fargo Owners
I am hoping to build a simple but useful register of Dodge owners (primarily in the UK), this page for owners of the Fargo variants in particular. Finding parts for all Dodge trucks, particularly for the more obscure civilian or military variants, is less than easy especially in the UK.
Hopefully if people sign up to this simple Fargo register (click here to join the Dodge register) it'll help people get in touch with fellow owners of Fargo & similar Dodges, restored or rusty, to aid their restoration or get advice & help!
[Also see the Fargo Page 2]
There are some earlier Fargos on the Pre-war Dodge pages too! |

PS I'll present your contact email address in such a way that spammers can't pick it up using their harvesting techniques: replace '-at-' with '@' in the address given.

195? Fargo tipper
Merv Hartfiel

Merv wrote in from sunny Australia, sending the pic above of his great Fargo lorry and the following request for parts:
"Hi my name is merv hartfiel, I live in Queensland Australia.
I recently purchased the Fargo tipper in the attached photo.
I don't know anything about these vehicles and hoped you may be able to guide me toward info .
I don't know what age it is , it is in running order but starter ring gear and left rear brake cylinder are unserviceable.
It is fitted with a flathead motor, six cylinder has a five speed gearbox.
It has been hauling grain until recent times on a farm in new south wales - any info would be greatly appreciated."
and continued...
"I intend to restore and use it
on our farm as a tipper but primarily to get it back into to top condition.
So I am going to need some help in getting parts, it is drivable and used on
the farm where I bought it from till 2 years ago, the starter has gone as
well as the brakes and the interior needs a lot of TLC, but no rust really
other than surface stuff. If you mention it on your site maybe I could get
the parts which would be great."
Can anyone help Merv find the parts he needs for his Dodge? My guess is that the kit of parts was sent out from England in knocked-down form,
and assembled over in Australia. The engine is the 6 cylinder Chrysler motor as fitted to many Kew Dodges in the early 50s. If you can help, or
have a similar vehicle and are also seeking parts, you can contact Merv at mkhartfiel -at- optusnet.com.au

Dodge Fargo 1 1/2 ton truck 251ci straight six flathead
Anthony Costin (tel UK 020 8555 0343)
"Built in 1949. USA flat pack to Australia.
Dodge Fargo 1 1/2 ton truck 251ci straight six flathead engine.
No known history apart from being found on a farm in Australia where it had been sitting for 30 years!
Imported into this country by Robert Furnley Tractors in Norfolk about 1yr ago, my girlfriend bought it for me for Christmas (she has a strange sense of humour and was obviously stuck for ideas!). She is in very good condition for her 56 years and is now called Fanny (the truck that is).
I would be very pleased to be added to the Register."
