Photos of this former RAF Dodge
Below are some photos of my old Dodge restoration project, and, now that I have it out of storage and at home for the first time, I hope to be able to add to these images as things progress!
Just click any of the thumbnails below to view a full size photo. To see photos of other VKs that I've found, please visit this Dodge page.

This is a view of the Dodge back in 2001 prior to being moved from the first place I had it stored in, a barn in Poynton, Cheshire. It drove to this spot by the way! |
Here's a rear 3/4 view of the Dodge, showing some of the period advertisements applied to the coachwork during the late 1940s, early 1950s. |
A closeup of the n/s/f door showing the Mulliner applied aluminium strips |
Ready for the off! Griffin Trust offered to do the move for me, and here it is loaded up on the back of a Bedford lorry. |
A shot of the front end tinwork, showing clearly how the heavier rated Dodge trucks had a longer front end to accomodate the larger 6 cylinder engine, when compared to smaller civvy types. |
A low down photo from the rear corner, showing the hinged spare wheel cover, and further period sponsors, including Dunlop and SU Carburettors. |
Unloaded at Hooton Park, it too ex-RAF, the hangars behind this ex-crewbus dating back to 1917 and used in WW1 and WW2, right through to the 1950s and the early jets. |
The Dodge tucked away in the corner of a hangar, yes there are axle stands and a bottle jack under there, supplementing the jack you can see in shot. |
Here's a closeup of the front grille from my VK, based around what would be a '41 civilian style grille, but with apertures let in for the military brush guard that would have been fitted. |
The strip down continues, here the o/s door has been removed. |
